Building a home. Building a future.

Ruach Nechona is a nonprofit working for lone soldiers — immigrants who arrived in Israel without their families and young Israelis without a family safety net. We meet them as pre-enlistees, walk with them through military service, and stay with them in the first years after discharge. At every stage, the needs change — from pre-enlistment preparation and supplies, through housing, personal mentoring and community during service, to support on the way to studies, employment and independent life. Over the years we've learned that the answers change, but one thing stays the same: the road looks different when there are people by your side.

How it all started

Ruach Nechona was born from a meeting between people who knew the reality of lone soldiers from different angles.

Looking forward

After a decade of work, Ruach Nechona's next vision was born from everything we learned along the way. Housing is a foundation, personal mentoring creates stability, and community turns belonging into something that lasts long after service ends.

Message from the Chair

Ruach Nechona is a home of values, of people, and of real work that every day shapes the lives of young people and lone soldiers who need an outstretched hand, a listening ear, and sometimes simply a sense of belonging.

I began my path at the organization as a volunteer renovating one of the apartments. Very quickly I understood I had found a place that deeply connects my belief in the power of people with the desire to make a real change. Later I joined the board, and today I am proud to chair the organization and, together with a dedicated team, lead its continued growth.

My connection to this work is not accidental. During my military service at Havat HaShomer, as a commander and as an education and training officer, I saw up close young people facing hard challenges. There I learned how much support, belief, and opportunity can change a life path. The values that guided me then still lead me today: responsibility, giving, mutual care, and the belief that every person can succeed when given the right tools and environment.

Our organization gives far more than a roof. Our apartments and homes are a safe, warm, and holding space — a place where young people and lone soldiers can find stability, support, personal growth, community, and belonging. Behind every home stand staff and volunteers who give their time, experience, and heart so each young person has a real chance to build a better future. The organization's remarkable work is the result of people who choose, every day, to give of themselves for others.

Our gaze is forward. We aim to expand our work, reach more young people and lone soldiers, open more homes, offer more opportunities and belonging, and make sure no young person or lone soldier is left alone in the moments they need support.

I invite you to take part in this journey. Together we can keep building a strong, supportive, embracing community, and give more young people the chance to grow, succeed, and feel they belong.
